Beyonce Reunites Destiny’s Child At Coachella

Published

on

Destiny’s Child have performed together at Coachella.

Beyonce brought band mates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams on stage during her headline set at the festival in California last night.

The trio began their surprise performance with their 2004 hit Lose My Breath, followed by Say My Name and Soldier.

It’s the first time they have appeared together since the Stellar Gospel Music Awards in 2015.

The 36-year-old singer’s show took a military theme, beginning with a rendition of her 2003 hit Crazy In Love played by a marching band.

Dancers wore black berets and yellow hoodies decorated with military-style sashes, and leotards with epaulettes.

The nearly two-hour set included quotes from civil rights activist Malcolm X and feminist author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, as well as samples of Nina Simone.

It also featured a rendition of Lift Every Voice and Sing, a song often referred to as the “Black American National Anthem”.

Beyonce’s set closed the second day of the three-day festival in Indio, California, which will end tonight with Eminem.

The Texan singer had been due to play Coachella last year, but was forced to pull out after becoming pregnant with twins Rumi and Sir.

Rumours that Destiny’s Child would reform for this year’s festival have been circulating for months.

But band member Kelly Rowland had dismissed them, telling People magazine in December: “I have no idea about any of that.”

Destiny’s Child are one of the most successful female groups of all time. They had 14 UK Top 40 songs, and two UK Number 1s.

On Saturday night the trio rose to the stage on a platform, standing back to back in a Charlie’s Angels-style formation, a nod to their 2001 hit Independent Women Pt. 1, which appeared on the film’s soundtrack.

Their jewel-encrusted camouflage outfits echoed those worn in the iconic video for their song Survivor.

They performed energetic dance routines with lunges, high kicks and salutes, walking among the festival crowd on a raised walkway.

Beyonce’s set took in the breadth of her 16-year solo career, including songs Baby Boy, 7/11 and Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).

Jay-Z also joined his wife on stage for a performance of their 2012 song Deja Vu, while Solange later came on stage to dance with her elder sister.

On Saturday 14th April, Alliance Motors Ghana, the exclusive distributor of Land Rover and Jaguar in Ghana, presented a beachside launch for Jaguar’s new smart compact SUV, the E-PACE hosted by Joy FM’s Drive Time presenter, Lexis Bill.

The luxury auto dealership also announced the E-PACE brand ambassador, Joselyn Dumas during the event held at Sandbox Beach Club to over 150 guests which included Jaguar loyalists, media, influencers and young professionals from companies such as Barclays Bank, A&C Mall Development, Access Bank, Urban Grill/YOLO Experiences and Trasacco Homes.

During the launch, guests had the exclusive opportunity to view two Jaguar E-PACE vehicles which were strategically placed within the venue, virtually experience driving the new Jaguar E-PACE in augmented reality with the Point & Play app and pose with the luxury SUV in an interactive photo booth. Complimentary cocktails were provided by Remy Martin and electronics from EZone were on display to showcase E-PACE videos. Joselyn Dumas pulled the lucky winner of the raffle for an all expense paid trip to attend a Jaguar racing event at the Jaguar Land Rover Headquarters in South Africa.

”The E-PACE is an exciting new breed of Jaguar and we wanted the launch to reflect its fresh personality. We chose to introduce the E-PACE in a lifestyle setting rather than a traditional showroom to attract a new audience, which matches the E-PACE persona of modernity, youth, fun and elegance”, says Martin Madsen, General Manager of Alliance Motors Ghana.

”I am excited to be associated and be the face of this beautiful car. As the first person to drive and own the E-PACE in Ghana, I can confidently say that the E-PACE is here to serve the purpose of luxury, comfort and performance. This SUV is well equipped with safety and infotainment tech, has a very spacious and practical interior and it is simply fun to drive!”, adds Joselyn Dumas, an actress, media personality and brand ambassador of the Jaguar E-PACE.

The Jaguar E-PACE is a five-seat compact SUV that packs the design and performance of a Jaguar sports car into a spacious, practical and connected all-wheel-drive vehicle. Trademark Jaguar driving characteristics and stirring design put the brand’s sports car DNA in a practical design packed with advanced technologies. Every E-PACE is equipped with all-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic transmission, and high-output models are also available with active driveline – a technological first for Jaguar.

The E-PACE is available with Standard, S, SE and HSE specification packs, in core or R-Dynamic body styles. Customers have a choice of two diesel engines, with outputs of 110kW and 132kW, and two petrol engines, producing 183kW and 221kW, respectively. All new Jaguar cars come with a five-year care plan: a five-year/100,000km service plan and a five-year/150,000km warranty, as standard.

”Jaguar has now launched the E-PACE in North America, Europe and sub-Sahara African markets. With the Atlantic ocean as the backdrop combined with a curated mix of local and international personalities and professionals at the Ghana launch, we created a truly unique and Ghanaian feel for the event. We are excited about the possibilities for the E-PACE and the continued growth of the Jaguar brand in this market”, adds Madsen.

Alliance Motors current in-house Jaguar promotion makes it easy to become a E-PACE owner with 40% deposit due at signing and the difference tailored over the remaining 36 months for those who qualify. Customers can customize their own Jaguar E-PACE using the online configurator on the Jaguar website.

Yes, actress Joselyn Dumas is enjoying her ambassadorial duties for car company, Alliance Motors.

She recently stepped out in her new car looking hot like a tamale, well like Mariah Carey. Check it out.

Meanwhile her JCD Foundation has installed Security Cameras as a donation to the Children’s Ward of the Korlebu Teaching Hospital to help reduce reports of the crime levels at the hospital and to protect the safety of the patients, their families and staff of the hospital.

You’re ‘king’ but Stonebwoy is sitting on your head – David Oscar to Shatta Wale

Published

on

Comedian and musician, David Oscar has reiterated that Stonebwoy is far better than Shatta Wale musically and as such, the self-acclaimed dancehall king should respect the ‘Dirty Enemies’ hit maker.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz, Thursday, monitored by abrantepa.com, Oscar said Shatta Wale is yet to achieve the feat Stonebwoy has.

Organizers of the International Reggae & World Music Awards (IRAWMA) honoured Shatta Wale on March 18, 2018 for his contributions to Reggae in Ghana and at the global level but Oscar opines that neither the recognition nor any other makes him better than Stonebwoy.

“When it comes to Reggae/dancehall, Stonebwoy has a BET; you don’t have one. You’re talking about IRAWMAs. Who doesn’t know that BET is bigger than the IRAWMAs? Let’s face facts” he argued.

The comedian known for not mincing words further jabbed Shatta Wale for overly bragging about his wealth.

“You are a king but someone is seated on you when it comes to the genre so respect that. You’re always boasting that you’re rich. If you’re rich, go buy BET” he stated.

Stonebwoy was adjudged Best International Act: Africa at the 2015 Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards.

The dancehall artiste beat competition from Ghanaian counterpart Sarkodie, AKA (South Africa), Fally Ipupa (DR Congo), Sauti Sol (Kenya), The Soil (South Africa), Wizkid (Nigeria) and Yemi Alade (Nigeria).

He earned another nomination in the 2017 edition but lost.

Stonebwoy has also won the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year at the VGMAs on four consecutive occasions (2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018).
