I’m The Last To Speak Against Women – KOD

Published

on

Starr FM’s Mid-Morning show host, Kofi Okyere Darko known in showbiz as KOD,  has intimated that he will be the last person to speak against women.

The remark comes after the showbiz icon received massive backlash from some female celebrities on social media over some comments he made while congratulating Ghanaian actor, John Dumelo on his marriage.

KOD wrote on facebook: “Got me wondering why most men in the public eye settle for quiet/unknown women and not the ones all over. That could be a lesson for some of our sisters ooo. Men want women who can make a home and not be all over”.

Yvonne Okoro, a popular actress in Ghana replied to KOD’s post condemning him for stereotyping an ideal woman-for-marriage.

“I pray that young women would be raised to believe that they can achieve their dreams (working hard, and being KNOWN) and being also the perfect bride for some man one day, this goes for the man too,” she wrote.

However, speaking on The Zone, on Monday, May 14 to entertainment news anchor, David Dei-Awuku, the fashion mogul said his comments were never intended to attack or ridicule women celebrities in any way.

“I will never attack women, I always speak for women and I will continue to speak for women. I have all sisters and I have all daughters. I’m the last to speak against women. All my life I have spoken for women. The comment was not directed at female celebrities, they were not on my mind at all. It was more about the so-called slay queens and stuff like that”.

KOD is the owner and Chief Executive Officer of the Nineteen57 fashion brand in Ghana which has styled major top officials in the political, religious and entertainment.

Andrew Samini, known in showbiz circles as Samini Dagaate has said he is the originator of African Dancehall genre so that makes him the KING of that genre.

The ‘My Own’ hitmaker told Mikki Osei Berko on After Hours show on TV3, he is still the dancehall king owing to the fact that he is sitting on his throne and minding his own business.

“African Dancehall is the genre I created so I’m still the King for that. Foreign market for African Dancehall is huge. Africa is doing Dancehall from the authentic point of view so then it becomes a specialized genre from Africa. Ghanaians or West Africans do dancehall music almost close to how Jamaicans do it.”

Samini termed his brand of music as the “African dancehall”. He signed his first record deal with Ashanti International. He started his own record label after he left the aforementioned label.

He has released Six studio albums, with all being highly successful on the commercial market. Samini’s success and recognition began when his first single, Linda, was released and subsequently appearing on other successful singles by other artistes.
