Angry weapon-wielding New Patriotic Party (NPP) youth at Gwollu in the Sissala West District of the Upper West Region on Thursday afternoon chased out the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Mr Mohammed Bakor and locked up his office.
The youth according to Iddrisu Waaleka who is the Constituency Nasara Coordinator locked up the office of the DCE on realizing that he was not around at the time of the arrival and threatened to visit mayhem on him if spotted in the area.
According to him, the youth were protesting the rejection of their favorite as the Micro-finance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) coordinator for the district after several engagement between the DCE and party leaders.
“The Chairman for the constituency Kanchuo D Dramani went to discuss with the DCE the name of the person who should be made the MASLOC Coordinator but he refused and spoke in a rather unpleasant manner to him. The youth who were angry also went there to attack him but he got wind and fled from office”, he disclosed to mynewsgh.com.
The Sissala West District Police Commander confirmed the incident to mynewsgh.com but said they have been able to calm the situation.
He however refused to disclose the whereabouts of the DCE indicating that it is for security reasons.
