COVID 19: Ghana’s confirmed cases jump to 5,127

Ghana’s COVID-19 case count has increased by 427, bringing the country’s total to 5,127. According to the Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Patrick Kumah Aboagye, 307 of the new cases recorded are from the Ashanti Region, out of which 272 are from Obuasi.

Speaking at a press briefing in Accra on tuesday, Dr Aboagye, said the total number of recoveries remained at 494, with 22 deaths.

He said however that his outfit was awaiting the second results of some 130 patients who had tested negative for the coronavirus disease. He said active cases as of Monday, May 11, was 4,611 with five critically ill.

Dr Patrick Aboagye added that 26 districts in Accra have recorded the coronavirus cases. Among the 26, Tema, Korle Klottey, Accra Metro and Katamanso have been identified as the hotspots areas with high number of recorded cases.
