A member of the Brong Ahafo Regional Communications team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and aspiring Regional Youth Organizer, Mr. Kwain Isaac, has advised parents to invest the absorbed fees in the education of their wards who may not be benefiting from the free Senior High School policy.
According to him, if government is spending about GH¢6, 000 on each child in the three years of senior high education, that is enough money that if parents do not misuse it but rather invest it wisely could have yielded enough profit to help send one’s ward to the tertiary level.
Speaking on Techiman-based Asta Fm, Mr. Kwan Isaac noted that it is the vision of President Nana Akufo-Addo to make the youth of Ghana educated in order to foster the rapid growth the citizenry desire.
He said parent should also do their possible best to push their wards in order to make President Nana Akufo-Addo’s led NPP government vision becomes a reality.
Free SHS education has been one of the top priorities of the ruling New Patriotic party (NPP) government as it was a major campaign tool prior to 2008, 2012 and the 2016 elections respectively.
The NPP after winning the 2016 general elections said it is determined to roll out the pogramme that seeks to give free Senior High School education to about 400, 000 students across the country.
However, some individuals and groups both within and outside the party have warned the government to make better preparations to ensure its sustainability. A former defense minister, Dr Kwame Addo Kufour, who is also a staunch member of the party earlier this year warned.
